How to uninstall Metal Kettle Repo in Kodi
Very Important Do ASAP
Here is just a quick little Tutorial on how to Uninstall MettleKettles Repository (OR any repo come to think of it).
If you haven’t heard then it would be advisable to uninstall MK’s REPO Due to the fact that someone has registered a GitHub account using the same username and therefore end users could be a target if they still have the Repo installed.
If you did not know already but MK decided to retire from third party addon development a few weeks ago.
What has MK had to say on this recent development?
“Warning: If any users have a metalkettle repo installed on their systems or within a build – please delete ASAP.”
“Someone has re-registered metalkettle on github. So in theory, could pollute devices with the repo still installed. #ItsNotMe”
Its always important to keep on top of old and redundant repositories there are many dangers and issues they can cause if left on your device. Only yesterday we saw people reporting an update to an old Exodus Repo pushing an update and also installing unwanted Addons. This is a security risk in its self.
This is why we always recommend turning off Auto Updates and setting your device to Notify. Read our blog on how to do that HERE
Basically, it means that the person who registered the Github account can load content onto YOUR DEVICE if you still have the Metal Kettle repo installed. Quite a dangerous situation, something MetalKettle realized hence the prompt tweets on this matter.
