Twitter was alight with Snapchat users who were on the edge amid technical difficulties that plagued the app last night.
Photo and video messaging app Snapchat malfunctioned last night which left their millions of users unable to send snaps or post any snaps publicly.
Although this may seem like a minor problem in the grand scheme of things, when you have a 400-day streak it is definitely on your radar.
People were freaking out; if the difficulties with sending snaps were affecting them at the wrong time their streak would expire and vanish from their Snapchat feed.
Nothing worse, my friends – we understand your plight.
In light of the recent malfunction of Snapchat here is how to save your Snapchat streak.
A Snapchat Streak is when two Snapchat friends have exchanged picture or video messages every single day.
Once you Snapchat your friend and they reply for more than 3 consecutive days, a number pops up beside your friend’s name and that number increases every day to reflect how long you have kept it going.
The longest Snapchat streak on record is 909 days – nearly two and a half years – of constantly snapping your Snapchat friend.
How to save a Snapchat Streak
You can have as many streaks as you like and therefore it can be hard to keep up all your streaks, but people have solved this huge life problem by sending everyone they have a streak with a picture of the floor captioned ‘streak’ every day – every single day.
Now, God forbid that this foolproof method of maintaining streaks doesn’t work, and there are connectivity issues on your Snapchat app, or one of you is in a coma for more than 24 hours, and your streak dies.
There is hope, Snapchatters and the creators of your favourite app Snapchat have made it possible to RETRIEVE YOUR STREAKS.
Visit the Snapchat website and scroll down to the bottom and click ‘support’, their support page will then load and you need to click ‘contact us.’
Under this panel, they will ask how can we help and there is a section for those of you who have lost Snapchat streaks because people are reckless and it’s an epidemic right now.
Click ‘My Snapstreaks have disappeared’ then scroll down and click ‘yes’ beside ‘still need help?’
You will then be given a chance to file a claim, you will have to insert your username, email, mobile number, device, friend’s username (you are only allowed one per claim), when did you start having this issue?, how long was the Snapstreak?, did you see the timer?, extra information.
In the extra information box, you will want to say that you had a connectivity issue with the app, that your phone was fully connected to wifi or another internet signal, but it was an issue with the Snapchat app that caused you to be unable to service your streak.
Snapchat will then get back to you via the email you provided, and they will let you know whether or not it’s possible to restore your streak.
Bless you, in your endeavours to save the streaks.
