Apple’s newest model of iPhone is the iPhone X, marking the 10th anniversary of the first ever iPhone.

There has been much debate regarding the price of the phone, but the new model is different to its predecessors with some fancy new features.

The iPhone X was launched at the Apple launch event in Steve Jobs theatre at Apple Park on 12 September, 2017.

Queues already begun earlier today with the iPhone X going on general release on Friday November 3.

What is the difference between the new phones?

Design

The biggest difference between the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X is the industrial design.

The iPhone X stretches right to the edges, giving the user experience an immersive feel. However, only some apps are currently capable of going from corner-to-corner.

The iPhone X’s design is bold and futuristic, and marks a change from the previous models.

Face ID

Touch ID is now only available on the iPhone 8, not on the iPhone X because the famous circular home button has disappeared on the iPhone X.

Therefore the iPhone X will only use facial recognition (Face ID) to activate and wake up the phone.

Also to get back to the home screen, the iPhone X will have to use special shortcuts using hand gestures on the screen.

Wireless Charging

All the new phones have a glass back which has allowed Apple to use wireless charging for the first time.

Power

In terms of power and efficiency, there is not much difference either with all the phones powered by the A11 Bionic chip.

Screen

One of the biggest difference between the phones is the screens.

The iPhone X is the first of Apple’s phones to replace an IPS LCD display for OLED – the same screen tech used by Samsung, Pixel 2 XL and LG.

The iPhone 8 phones still use the IPS LCD display.

Price

The iPhone 8 will start at £699 for the smaller model for 64GB and £849 for the 256GB model.

If you want the iPhone 8 Plus model it will cost and additional £100 to each of those.

The iPhone X is pricier. It’ll start at £999 for 64GB and £1,149 for 256GB.

Camera

The cameras on the back of the iPhone X are similar to the ones on the iPhone 8 Plus.

The smaller iPhone 8 uses the older 12MP sensor, and both the 8 Plus and have dual-12MP cameras.
